Brakhage Symposium 2010 Recap (Prelude)

Back from the Symposium…an enlightening experience no doubt…compelled to recap, but where to start?… I don’t yet know…so instead I will throw up some scattershot odds and ends in hopes of capturing some sort of spark…or perhaps to just buy me some time…

Jacob, I am so glad to hear that you attended the Brakhage Symposium, and I'm a bit jealous too! :) Posting the program outlines, as well as your hand-written notes was a wonderful idea! What did you think about Annette Michelson's talk? This symposium looks as if it was a tremendous experience! Tell, tell! :)

p.s. A CHILD'S GARDEN is "unparalleled"! :)

Thanks Jennifer, though it required some sacrifice I'm very glad I got to attend again this year. Annette Michelson's talk was fantastic, very heady as is to be expected from someone of her intellectual stature, but still very engaging. The two programs were full of very interesting divergences, as well as parallels, and covered a considerable amount of ground. I'll have a more substantial post on it within the next few days (it's this damned schoolwork getting in the way of my true education!)...and YES, the ultimate highlight was finally getting to view the 'Vancouver Quartet' on film, I'm still struggling to come up with a coherent response to it, but there's no doubt it is some sort of pinnacle...
