Film and the Radical Aspiration

The Brakhage Symposium recap is still forthcoming (though it should be stressed that the extended interim in no way indicates an increase in quality) but in the meantime and on a related note, the following is one of Annette Michelson's major essays entitled Film and the Radical Aspiration which appeared in Film Culture No. 42 (Fall, 1966) and is absolutely essential reading (I recently gained access to a scanner, so click away...):
